Director’s Welcome

It is with great pleasure and much excitement I welcome you to Summit Charter School. As the newly appointed director, I can attest that the spirit of the school community is most inviting and refreshed with an enthusiasm for wonderful growth. I am thrilled to be on board, and I look forward to the many great adventures to be experienced this school year.

Now beginning its 12th year of operation, Summit Charter School will continue to provide a nurturing and academically stimulating environment. Students are instructed through the techniques of placed-based education to maximize learning through experience and exploration. With an emphasis on environmental education, the instructional program will also provide our students with the opportunities to investigate the wonderful resources of western North Carolina and to become good stewards of the local habitats and community.

The spirit of community is truly a remarkable feature here at Summit Charter School. Parents are invited and encouraged to take an active roll in the education of the whole child. Members of the school and greater communities selflessly dedicate time, service, and expertise on a variety of committees and projects to ensure an outstanding education for the children in our area and to reinforce the importance of a family community.

To house and foster the wonderful spirit of education here at Summit, the school will be relocating to a new campus this year. Now in its final stages of construction, the new state of the art facilities will broaden even further the educational opportunities for our students while providing a new and wonderful resource for our community.
