The Arts are an integral component of the education experience at Summit.

Summit has a vibrant arts program that encompasses visual arts, music and performing arts. Summit offers a variety of arts courses, including K-5 art and music, and middle and high school arts electives that have included visual art, music, our award winning chorus, theater, and film production. We have also been able to offer (pending on student interest) Jazz Band, Home Arts, Photography and Musical Theater.

 

Summit's Fine and Performing Arts program works to build creative problem solving skills in our students to better prepare them for the future. Through a variety of arts students are challenged to think creatively, solve problems and express emotions and ideas.  Placed-based education thrives in our arts program as our arts teachers use an interdisciplinary approach to connect the arts to other content areas. 

 

Summit is thankful to have partnerships with local organizations such as the Bascom and Western Carolina University that have enhanced our program through field trips and art shows. We are grateful to be in a community that recognizes the importance of the arts in education.
